The Impact of Entrepreneurial Determinants on Ease of Doing Business in English-Speaking West African Countries (ESWACS)

This study investigated the impact of entrepreneurial determinants on ease doing business in five English. Speaking West African Countries (ESWACs) Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia and The Gambia. It used secondary data sourced from OECD World Bank. independent variables were Entrepreneurial Determinants (ED) regulatory framework peroxide by Small Medium Enterprise Sale Tax (SSTR); access to finance proxied both Interest Rate Spread (INTR) Domestic Credit Private Sector (DCPS). dependent variable was Ease Doing Business Ranking (EDBR). Five research objective hypotheses based Keynesian, Monetary Schumpeter theoretical inferences guided study. ex-post factor design descriptive statistical, correlation matrix, Panel-ARDL, Granger causality, impulse response methods for analyses. results revealed that SSTR is positively weakly correlated with EDBR, but has negative weak INTR DCPS. Long run relationship found not exist between SSTR, DCPS, dynamic short ARDL regression reveals high levels coefficient determination. On country-specific analysis, cross-sectional result showed DCPS impacted Nigeria Leone had a further zero causality existed among INTR, EDBR; mixed responses result. also recommended governments ESWACs should ensure continuous use expansionary policies area.
